London’s changing skyline – mixing the old with the new…

The hoarding at the new Leadenhall Building (affectionally known as the cheese-grater…) gives an idea of what the  City skyline will soon look like…

It’s almost finished, seems to have gone up in no time at all and will be the square mile’s tallest building when complete. Meanwhile, the Gherkin’s already firmly established as one of our favourites…

Along the banks of The Thames the modern buildings seem to blend effortlessly with our history… and add to the growing list of the Capitol’s tourist attractions…

Somehow, The Ship in Hart Lane has managed to fight off development on all sides and survive as one of the City’s oldest pubs and 20 Fenchurch Street is close to being completed and will feature ‘The Sky Garden’ on it’s roof which will be one of the highest public spaces in London with 360 degree views over the Capitol.

And… Canary Wharf keeps growing – somehow developers are still finding more space to build around there.

We can’t wait to see what will come next…

pugs in the park…

apparently this happens regularly in parks all over London, Pug owners meet up and there are Pugs everywhere – it’s got to be one of the funniest sights you’re likely to see…

the dogs seem to like making new friends too, except maybe when your new friends are a bit over-friendly…

Camden town – it’s like marmite…

not for everyone, but we’re very happy to be working in the heart of Camden with the gorgeous food, crazy people and unique market stalls. Camden also holds a real place in the heart of the British Film Industry and the office holds a proper film maniac in the form of Joseph… he loves that his favourite film was set close to the office…

This hilarious British comedy was set in the heart of our manor in the 1960’s and in many ways not a lot has changed since then. ‘Happy go Lucky’ is another great British movie set in the heart of Camden   starring Sally Hawkins. You can see her here, walking over the bridge by our office.

And to make Joseph even happier… the area used to be home to the legends (in his eyes!), Playwrite Alan Bennett, who lived in the wonderful Gloucester Crescent for many years and the late Singer Amy Winehouse lived just around the corner…

Cool fabrics to freshen up your home…

There’s a great fabric outlet based in the West Country, called Fabric Mills, with an easy to use web site for ordering on-line and large stocks end-of-line designers fabrics at around half the original price. They have a huge and varied selection and are happy to speak to you on the phone if you need any help or advice.

If you see something you like, they’re happy to send you samples so you can make sure it’s what you need before you buy, here’s a selection of what we’ve bought recently…

and what it was used for – the embroidered fabric (it was the last 6 meters they had!) was perfect for the curtains for finishing off a bedroom and the striped fabric on the end helped to breathe new life into a tired old bench. The left over bits were used to knock up a selection of throw cushions…

Victoria Beckham at Birchwood

Beckham.  Birchwood.  Bonjour! (It’s for a French magazine, after all).

I’m sure these are all the ingredients needed for an ingeniously alliterative headline.  While I’m thinking one up, feel free to admire what a beautiful job Greg Williams has done with this Victoria Beckham shoot at Birchwood for Madame Figaro.

Breathtaking.  Brilliant.  Byzantine.  You know what – leave it with me.
